MASATAKA CONTEMPORARY was launched in January 2013. Our mission is to introduce and encourage emerging talents that we felt in love with. We explore artists and their work across various media that meet our two criteria; creativity and independence.
The theme of my works is attenuation of relationships with others and contrary dependence, human strength and fragility in the modern times. Wishing to be respected, but contradictorily, people are crafty to jockey and calculate in their head. Comparing themselves to others, people stuck within his or her shell and can not move. I want to represent such human ways frankly without denying or affirming.
My production is based upon common photographs. It may be a movie scene or sometimes I just pick up something on the net. By hiding allusions and questions toward relationships with others in the casual motif which anyone may have seen, I make the place where the audience can reflect on themselves.
